Assistant General Counsel IP Strategy & Transactions

As our Assistant General Counsel, you'll drive and manage Nike's IP portfolio related to web and digital experience, portable applications and electronic devices. You'll develop and manage processes for current and forward looking innovation/IP activities. You'll coordinate with Nike's IP business and technology teams to develop and refine strategy to create and align IP portfolios with Nike digital businesses and position Nike at the forefront of the competitive landscape. Together with Nike's IP specialists and outside IP counsel, drive protection efforts. Draft and negotiate IPR provisions and otherwise provide IP advice on commercial and corporate agreements, including consulting, development, supply and manufacturing agreements as to things such as web design services, engineering services, and software and other technology licenses. Draft in- and out-bound IP licenses. Provide legal counsel as to and assist with IP and technological aspects of conflicts and potential infringement claims including administrative actions such re-examinations, oppositions, and interferences. Provide risk assessment analysis and design-around options regarding potential infringement issues. Provide IP education to Nike's business, technology and legal partners as to IP law and practice worldwide to enable planning and implementation of corporate, commercial and technical initiatives.294842Qualifications
Requirements for this position include:
- Juris Doctor, with a minimum of 7 years' legal experience
- Admission to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is preferred.
- Membership in at least one state bar.
- Must have a solid grounding in patent law.
- Strong preference will be given to attorneys with in-depth experience in the internet and/or software industry; highly proficient in current information and multi-media technologies.
- Ability to problem solve within a group environment
- Must have strong ability to express thoughts in writing clearly, concisely and persuasively.
- Capable of adding organization value through unique technical expertise.
- Broad range of legal experiences regarding technology and internet contracts and negotiations, patent prosecution, enforcement and litigation.
