WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a Director, Global Digital Content to lead the Digital Content team within Global Digital Design, inclusive of digital photography & videography content creation. This role will lead a team of designers and a photographer, and will lead by example, bring subject matter expertise (concepting and directing content for e-commerce in the style/footwear industry), share creative inspiration and give direction to the content team.

We’re seeking a leader with a collaborative demeanor, an entrepreneurial mindset who takes initiative, isn’t shy to voice their point of view, has experience leading teams and strives to develop and foster growth for our team of designers. The work will be ambitious, never boring, and we expect you’ll be an integral part of the creative team bringing new digital experiences and solutions to the Converse brand.

On any given day as a Design Director for Global Digital Design, your role will include leading and giving direction to a team of designers and a photographer to create compelling visual storytelling to fuel our complete season, starting with sell-in content creation to serve our Global commercial teams all the way through content to fuel consumer journeys across Global e-commerce experiences (converse.com), performance marketing (email, paid social, banners) and PDP content. All of these visuals will bring to life the Converse Brand, our product and be centered around our audience. This role also oversees part of the photo studio team and will be an integral part of creating a test and learn environment for the team weekly in-studio.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • In collaboration with the Sr. Creative Director and leaders of the Creative Operations & Production, Copy and Design squads, leading the Content team to develop and drive innovative solutions for digital storytelling across converse.com platforms and all commercial digital touchpoints

  • Owning and leading implementation of Brand visual centers; vision for the season, onboarding external partners & agencies and giving relevant feedback to internal and external designers

  • Leading and giving clear direction and inspiration to team of designers and a photographer, assisting them to deliver effective solutions

  • Leading the creation of an ongoing test and learn environment with our in-house studio to spark creativity and drive the work forward.

  • Operational excellence always: ensuring the team delivers high quality work, on time and on budget 100% of the time

  • Becoming a specialist on the function and capabilities of our platforms

  • Actively gaining knowledge of Converse’s products (digital) and processes, trends, the consumer and the communities we stand for, and overall marketplace culture.

  • Gaining knowledge around our physical product (the sneakers and clothing) each season

  • Managing and mentoring direct reports and design team. Encouraging, recognizing and rewarding team members. Being a positive driving force. Promoting team spirit and building energy and optimism in others to achieve the team and company vision.

  • Bringing network of design/agency partners

  • Utilizing exceptional design skills and demonstrating innovation in leading team to create original solutions

  • Communicating and presenting design concepts; creating presentation materials that effectively communicate design concepts—mentoring direct reports to present their work a persuasive and compelling way

  • Taking initiative to consistently update team leader and Operations Director. Innate sense of when to seek guidance and share problems.

  • Knowing when to involve others when working on projects

  • Sharing own expertise and experience with others

  • Valuing differences; behaving with sensitivity toward differences in cultural norms. Seeking out diverse perspectives and talents of others

  • Sharing expert-level knowledge of current trends, technology, design systems and other design influences

  • Sharing knowledge, experience and skill with other design staff; working with design counterparts to ensure continuity across digital touchpoints

  • Ensuring alignment from a Converse.com perspective across North America and Western Europe Geographies, while also supplying creative to Greater China and Global Partner Markets.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

In addition to the team of designers you will lead, daily you will be collaborating with the functions on our Global Digital Design team (Creative Operations, Digital Copywriting and Digital Design). You’ll also spend a lot of time with the Experience Strategy, Brand, UX, Geography Digital teams and Product Teams.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Passion for the Converse Brand and passion for creating high-quality work with attention to detail

  • Extensive experience in speaking the language of photography and planning, concepting & on set art direction of photo & video shoots and all aspects of photo-shoot planning (talent sourcing / styling / casting / mood boards / location / lighting /etc)

  • Experience in digital design; digital design systems, e-commerce and performance marketing (email, paid social & other media)

  • Ability to manage and direct multiple agency relationships and direct reports, across multiple projects with a clear design voice and an unbending creative rigor

  • Ability to socialize and present creative work in a compelling and persuasive way to cross-functional partners and senior leadership

  • Aptitude to craft and develop digital content and storytelling with our Gen-Z consumer in mind

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or design-related equivalent

  • 9+ years’ experience in digital design for large retail e-commerce or key digital agency experience specific to the footwear/apparel industry.

  • Management experience of teams with 5+ people

  • Excellent Adobe Suite skills

  • Creative, bold, and digitally savvy

  • A genuine passion for digital marketing and the online space with a strong knowledge of digital commerce, performance marketing (email, paid social and other media) A/B testing, designing for different and multiple target audiences, and social media platforms

  • Strong knowledge of UX/UI (does not need to be at expert level)

  • Self-starter mentality, comfortable working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, organized, detail oriented, collaborative and flexible

  • Ability to manage multiple and competing work priorities, demands and changes

  • Familiarity with project tracking tools such as Asana or Trello

  • Deep connection to streetwear culture and trend

  • Excellent writing and communications experience

  • Video editing and retouching skills a plus
