READY

A Coach guides a team day-to-day. As a Coach you will educate our Athletes about the business goals of Nike and ensures that they have visibility into the end-to-end process flow of the DC. You will motivate and encourage the team to successfully achieve key operational targets (productivity, safety, quality, teamwork, and culture). You will oversee all Help Chain activity and ensure every instance is properly documented. In a dynamic and fast changing environment, a Coach is independent, calm under pressure, and considers problems as challenges. Leadership is in their DNA and is capable of creating a collaborative environment that fosters a sense of psychological safety. You can manage ambiguity, and is skilled at giving and receiving feedback to/from all levels.

Beyond responsibility for a core group of Athletes, Coaches will belong to a cohort that collectively manages DC operations across multiple functional areas. People duties such as performance management, process adherence, performance reviews, and development are responsibilities in this role.


SET

Strategy

1.End-to-End Process Flow: Possesses a complete understanding of the end-to-end process flow and works with the Ops Manager and Planning to allocate resources to areas of the DC based on business needs.

2.Continuous Improvement: Supports, participates in, and communicates with teams opportunities for continuous improvement or problems where root cause analysis needs to occur. Also works with the Innovation Space to prioritize Continuous Improvement opportunities that deserve further investment.

Operations

1.Task Orientation: Physically capable of performing all tasks needed in every area of the DC, as assigned.  Ability to be flexible to work outside of set scheduled shift.

2.Help Chain: Oversees and supports issue resolution by the Help Chain in their area. Celebrates issue resolution.

3.KPIs: Manages key KPIs for their area and the individuals they work with.

4.Handoffs: When finishing work, leaves the area ready for the next Coach and communicates any relevant issues.

5.Training: Ensures Athletes in their area are properly trained. Identifies training needs and ensures training is delivered. A Coach will ensure that their assigned Athletes have completed all necessary training.

6.Safety: Leads Athletes to perform all tasks with safety in mind.
 
7.Must be able to perform all administrative tasks (i.e. Monitor, review and research Time track reports daily to assure the accuracy of employees' production records and paychecks, etc.)

1.Compliance: Ensures compliance with all HR policies and training requirements, and directs any issues through the appropriate channel.

2.Growth & Development: Understands the career paths available to all Athletes. Serves as an inspiration and mentor to those Athletes who might consider becoming a Coach one day. Understands career paths available to his/her and is motivated to grow in their career at Nike.

GO

•Together with other Coaches in the Coaches Cohort, the Coach makes decisions about deploying talent based on fluctuating business needs. Reassess and redeploy frequently throughout the shift.
•As a Coach, you will make decisions about Athletes’ career paths based on performance management. You will manage low performers, and also identifies top performers via a HiPo program and offers them stretch and growth opportunities, both formal and informal.
•The Coach runs a daily standup to make work assignments & celebrate athletes.

  • Bachelor’s degree or a related discipline and at least 3 years management experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment; or an additional 2 years in lieu of a degree is preferred
  • 3 plus years of experience managing employees required
  • Working knowledge of automated distribution systems, departmental budgets, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • PC skills required, experience with Excel, Word, SAP, DCMS and Kronos would be a plus.
  • Project management skills preferred.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, attentive to details, work well under pressure and able to meet deadlines required.
  • Must possess demonstrated ability to work as a team member, handle confidential matters in a professional manner, and lead and influence others to accomplish operational objectives.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal skills, ability to embrace and promote others' ideas, motivate employees, build and maintain working relationships and stay focused.
  • Must understand and foster a diverse workforce.
  • Able to work overtime with little or no notice before or after scheduled shift.
  • Must have ability to access all areas of the warehouse and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
