The Senior Color Designer brings to life seasonal category color direction that is trend-relevant to the category consumer. This requires that a designer is a color specialist and is capable of color merchandising and strategy. In addition, this person drives the category color strategy and application by utilizing strong understanding of color technology and how to achieve desired color effects: materials, dyes, finishes and color achievability. The Senior Color Designer is also responsible for planning and executing the product color details, reviewing samples, and occasionally troubleshooting achievability issues. This person builds awareness of current color trends through fashion, art, design and sports-related products through market research to keep abreast of consumer needs. Using an industry-informed perspective, the Senior Color Designer provides category forecast color needs for global palette building and uses solid presentation skills to varied audiences with the goal of engaging and inspiring other members of the design community as well as cross-functional partners.
Bachelor's Degree in Design, Textile Design, Graphic Design or other relevant field
7-10 years of relevant professional experience, including some management experience
Experience managing a team of designers
Exemplifies strong leadership qualities
Shares process and product finishing expertise across category and design function and influences others to evolve creative skills
Leads in depth research on consumer trends, insights, competitors, for a focused market segment/category
Ability to travel
Stays abreast of industry and technology development within the product design profession
Continuously advances product, process, and design skills reflective of an expert design professional
