What we are looking for

We are looking for a Global Director of Purpose Communications, DEI to drive the development and execution of internal and external communications strategies for Nike’s DEI efforts to engage and inspire employees and consumers, by driving Nike’s Purpose narrative and overall corporate narrative. As part of Nike’s Global Purpose Communications team, you will be a key contributor to shaping NIKE, Inc.’s Purpose and Corporate Narrative. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders across the company and peers within the Global Communications function to drive, develop and accomplish strategic opportunities that position Nike’s commitment to Purpose and support both Nike’s business and brand objectives. The role requires a strategic and analytical thinker comfortable navigating ambiguity and committed to breaking barriers for all.

What you will work on

If this is you, you will sit within the Global Purpose Communications team and partner with Enterprise Communications, Corporate Narrative Communications, Corporate Reputation, Purpose Marketing and others to:

  • Drive overarching narrative arc for DEI efforts within Nike’s Purpose strategy
  • Help identify key strategic storylines, moments and proof-points across the enterprise that showcase our DEI efforts and progress towards our Purpose 2025 targets, specifically within our “People” Purpose pillar.
  • Drive relevant DEI communications strategies tied to Nike’s Corporate Narrative goals that drive key results and promote Nike’s DEI efforts to employees and external collaborators.
  • Evolve the DEI communications key messaging framework and work with the DEI team to regularly update proof-points for Nike’s Corporate Narrative communications goals.
  • Lead executive communications plan for Nike’s Purpose Leadership Team as it relates to People and DEI storytelling opportunities, including narrative-led moments that involve our Global Chief Diversity Officer and related senior executives (day to day prep for internal and external engagements eg scripts, talking points, briefing documents, internal communications, social media strategy).
  • Lead DEI issues management efforts and liaise with key stakeholders to address issues.
  • Liaise with the Nike Global Purpose Communications Reporting team on DEI proof points and data for reporting, ratings and rankings needs.
  • Work collaboratively across a team of Global Purpose communications colleagues including Directors, Managers and Specialists to develop and drive communications plans for key narrative moments and proof points, both internal and external.
What you bring
  • Proactive, and collaborative communications professional with recognized experience in corporate social responsibility, DEI, corporate communications, or social impact.
  • Experience in corporate communications, preferably at a large consumer brand and/or communications agency are critical.
  • An agile approach with the ability to build strong, collaborative, and meaningful relationships working across individuals, teams, and executives.
  • The ability to look around corners, anticipate issues and opportunities and future-proof communications strategies.
  • Experience communicating to and working with both peers and senior executives to provide strategic counsel, clearly share ideas and successfully handle differing points of view while strengthening relationships.
  • Proven ability in communicating plans across a sophisticated matrix on a corporate, geo and functional basis, including presenting before audiences of various sizes and cultures.
  • Demonstrated success supporting high visibility change projects with a highly collaborative and integrated workstyle.
  • High perseverance and resourcefulness to find innovative ways to work and get the job done.
  • Curious learner who can thrive in the gray space with an innovative, innovative, problem-solving approach.
  • Strong planning and written and verbal communication skills.
What is required
  • Bachelor's degree or higher or equivalent combination of education and experience and training
  • 10+ years professional experience in high profile corporate communications or corporate communications and/or public relations roles supporting globally branded organizations.
  • Experience working across large corporate environments, coordinating the corporate matrix and several cross-company functions for maximum impact.
  • Excellent and proven track record to deliver results.
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and working in a dynamic environment.
  • Passion for the NIKE brand and working for a purpose-driven company.
