In 1984, the Air Jordan was the first collaboration between Nike and rising star, Michael Jordan. Through multiple products innovations, expansions, and continued collaborations, the Jordan team has turned the Jumpman silhouette into a sneaker icon worthy of Michael Jordan. Today the team is focused on building the future of the brand from product that will become the icons of tomorrow to world class teams and business practices.
Air Jordan literally and figuratively allowed Nike sneakers to reach new heights. At the time, Nike was primarily known as a running shoe company. Ever since the initial release in 1984, the Air Jordan and its related products have expanded Nike’s domain and continues to define the modern basketball and sneaker culture we know today.
Initially focused on creating basketball footwear and apparel, Jordan Brand has since expanded into other sports including American football, baseball and global football as well as lifestyle apparel and footwear. Nike began by taking a risk on an unproven rookie and we carry this mentality today by always evolving and never settling.
