The annual base salary for this position ranges from $122,000.00 in our lowest geographic market to $288,500.00 in our highest geographic market. Actual salary will vary based on a candidate's location, qualifications, skills and experience.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Immersive Art Director for the Nike Global Brand Experience + Innovation Studio is a visionary, using innovative applications of art direction to create immersive storytelling, engagement, and interaction through experiences.  You are multi-hyphenate creative with a portfolio of work showcasing a deep experience and knowledge of the role of art direction in immersive experiences and interactive media.

You can deliver Art Direction across disciplines such as character, video game, and motion design.  You can ideate and collaborate with a cross-functional creative team to develop and frame creative concepts.  You will translate these cutting-edge concepts into designs for use across physical and virtual experiences that are visually exciting and engaging.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

The Immersive Art Director is a strong collaborator who will work with the studio Creative Director, as well as other Artand Design Directors, Designers & Producers.  You will also partner closely with cross-functional teams, Nike’s enterprise partners, and creative agencies to develop and execute innovative concepts end-to-end.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • Creative Leadership - Lead the development of immersive art direction for a wide range of experiences, including physical spaces, virtual worlds, and gaming environments. Ensure all creative outputs align with Nike’s brand values and aesthetics.
  • Concept Development - Ideate, design, and execute cutting-edge concepts that engage consumers in unique and memorable ways. Develop creative briefs, mood boards, and prototypes that bring ideas to life across various mediums. 
  • Cross-Platform Integration - Work closely with product, brand marketing, and creative teams to create a seamless brand experience across physical, virtual, and gaming platforms. Ensure consistency and innovation in visual storytelling. 
  • Team Collaboration - Partner with designers, artists, developers, and external agencies to bring immersive experiences to fruition. Provide clear direction and feedback to ensure that all creative executions meet the highest standards of quality.
  • Oversee the end-to-end creative process, from initial concept through to final execution. Work with Ops and Production to manage timelines, budgets, and resources to deliver projects on schedule and within scope. 
  • Stay ahead of industry trends in art, design, technology, and gaming. Leverage insights to inspire new ideas and keep Nike at the forefront of immersive experiences.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in art direction, with a strong portfolio showcasing work across physical, virtual, interactive, and gaming platforms. Experience in leading immersive projects is a must.
  • Bachelor's degree in Design or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A diverse portfolio of integrated and innovative work.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design and 3D software. 
  • Experience and working knowledge of Unreal Engine, Unity, and other relevant technologies is highly desirable.
  • Motion and 3D skills are a strong plus.
  • A strong multi-disciplinary background in Art Direction, Game Design, Motion, Interaction, and Experiential Design combined.
  • A deep working knowledge of how to execute using tomorrow’s virtual platforms and emerging technologies.
  • Proven experience in game design, development, and execution.
  • Demonstrable experience in the process & design of interactive experiences: knowledge of flow, pace, engagement, structure, environment, & storytelling.
  • Ability to develop & apply immersive designs across physical and virtual platforms.
  • Experience in full-cycle Game development is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in game design principles: narrative, level or gameplay design, UX/UI or user insights research a plus.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the application of emerging technologies (AR / VR / Gaming) in creating the future of brand-defining storytelling & engagement.
  • Knowledge and expertise in all aspects of layout, typography, illustration, identity, digital, and experience production and publishing across formats and platforms.
  • Curiosity and in-depth understanding of culture – current, emerging, and past across technology, design, art, fashion, media and experiences 
  • Experience playing a key role as part of a team that drives a culture and vision for an innovation organization, forging positive relationships with the ability to influence.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, who can navigate, and manage project workflow through ambiguous situations.  
  • Proven Experience in driving integration across diverse teams with different skill sets.
  • Collaborative working process and multi-disciplinary approach to design.
  • Able to manage and drive a project team of junior designers to support concept/design development when needed.
  • Consistently deliver high-quality work on time and with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate creative ideas and strategies to both creative and non-creative stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, a good communicator, and a great team player.
  • A desire to connect people in new ways through technology.
  • Work hard, play hard attitude, and a great sense of humor.
