The Nike, Inc. Communications team develops, establishes and strengthens authentic connections with diverse audiences through the lens of innovation and sport. We are seeking a Communication Manager that is able to establish and strengthen authentic connections through the lens of innovation and sport. This manager will lead Nike's brand and corporate communications efforts in NA, based from NYC. The winning candidate will be efficient in connecting, influencing and delivering new levels of creative and strategic thinking.

The North America Media Relations Manager will play a key role in developing a strong media and influencer network across mainstream and creative media to help build the brand and support relevant initiatives. The position should assist in driving innovative and deep collaboration ideas, targeted media coverage and support communications programs that enhance the Nike Brand and its products. The position will contribute to the execution of targeted media coverage across print, digital and social platforms, with a significant focus on running verticals, women’s training and fitness media. The position will service communications programs that enhance the Nike Brand and its products, elevating brand awareness and understanding with North America-based media.

The role requires someone who can create strong and meaningful relationships with key influencers and media to drive innovative media collaborations and quality media coverage for multiple projects. It should also work to constantly serve up new direction and forward thinking to progress the brand.

The role will be an integral member of the New York Media Relations team and work closely with Nike’s World Headquarter and regional teams to develop creative executions that support North America media relation strategies. The NA Media Relations Manager will contribute regularly to the overall planning and execution of seasonal storytelling to support marketing communications. Finally, in this role you will be asked to deliver an extensive connection to key influencers within the world of sneaker and sports culture. This connection, combined with the ability to leverage the network and drive key media collaborations, is essential.

  • Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Journalism, English, Communications, Business, or related discipline
  • 5 years + professional experience in high-profile corporate communications or public relations roles supporting globally branded organizations
  • Knowledge of print, digital and broadcast mediums
  • Proven ability to network and influence across media, with a proven background in pitching media
  • On the ground media/PR experience with experience working on high-profile media and consumer events

  • Professional experience within the lifestyle arena and with a connection to high energy brands
  • Strong contacts with leading women’s fitness and training media outlets
  • Experience managing product samples
  • Knowledge of footwear or apparel industry
  • Knowledge and relationships within the running/fitness media segment
