North America Customs Operations Manager, Dana Alvares, is well versed in the art of precision. His team is in charge of calculating the exact duty "amount owed to U.S. Customs" for Nike products imported into the United States. The path between tuning malfunctioning planes and calculating customs might appear disparate, but according to Alvares, his time in the service laid the groundwork for his success at Nike. “The military taught me a lot about people. When you start out, it feels like a hodgepodge of people from all over the country — all over the world, really — and you need to learn how to communicate with them to get things done and work as a team.
